Hunters honored for
dedication to environment
The Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection held its annual meeting Friday at the Flint Hill Fire Hall.
Outgoing RLEP President Paul Farmer, left, presented Beverly and Hal Hunter, center and right, with a Lifetime Environmental Achievement Award for their work with RappFLOW and other environmental initiatives. A silverbell tree, which is native to the Piedmont region, will be planted on the County Courthouse grounds in their honor. The tree planting is part of RLEFs Courthouse Beautification Project, which began in 2004. , Farmer announced that RLEP now has more than 400 members. The league has gained more than 60 new members in the past year, he said.
The league’s Board of Directors also elected Monica Worth as the new RLEP president. Farmer’s term as president was up after serving in the position for three years.
