Circle November 10 on your calendar for CCLCTs 12th annual Fall Auction to benefit area children. Hosted once again at the historic Washington School, doors will open at 5:30 p m Early birds enjoy for pre-auction drinks and sumptuous hors d’oeuvres while prowling the Sursum Corda Shoppe for tag sale bargains and the Silent Auction Room. Live bidding begins at 7. Admission is $25, with all proceeds supporting programs at the Child Care and Learning Center — including financial assistance for 18 threeand four-year old Head Start students.
The 2007 Auction foils on the 30th anniversary of CCLC, which is the only nationallyaccredited early childhood program in our ten-county region. A true Rappahannock treasure, CCLC is the only private preschool in the country to “mainstream” the Head Start program for disadvantaged youth into the standard classroom, creating an environment in which students can learn and grow together without reference to financial need. Recognized repeatedly as one of the top early childhood programs in the state, CCLC is very proud of its history of service to families in Rappahannock.
Through its annual Auction and other activities, the Center reaches out to local citizens for financial support in achieving its mission “to provide fully accredited and licensed preschool, day care, and school-age programs for local children, at as low cost to families as possible.” The CCLC mission also states: “We strive to improve the qualify of children’s lives through our nurturing and enriching programs.”
.The volunteers who make up the “Friends of CCLC” work year-round collecting, refurbishing, scrubbing and polishing furniture and “white elephant” donations from every corner of the County. They solicit silent auction items and financial gifts, and do all the hard work required to create a high spirited evening of community fiin In 12 years, the Auction goal has expanded from an initial target of $5,000 to an impressive $65,000 for the 2007 event.
