There may be some in the know but many who don’t know that one of Rappahannock’s resident sculptors was instrumental in the building of the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
That would be Flint Hill’s Nol Putnam. -.. This year is the 100th anniversary of the laying of the comer stone for the Washington National Cathedral. Many festivities are planned throughout the year. The first one and going for the whole year is a show entitled “Builders of the National Cathedral” showing pictures, examples, quotes, progress, artifacts.
It is a beautiful show, located in the library of the Cathedral (first floor and on the south side). And, who is there among the builders in the iron section - our own Nol Putnam. Nol attended a luncheon in September for those left at St. Albans.
