I told her with my straightest face, “Well, when I catch this one that I’m after now, and one more, I’ll have two.”

The fellow laughed, and the lady looked at him rather quizzically and said, “What? He’s doing better than anyone else we’ve talked to.” Then, I grinned, and he took her by the arm and they walked off. About ten feet away, she stopped, looked back, and laughed. They were nice folks.

Heavenly Blue

Now, just for the record, the picture of that beautiful heavenly blue morning glory that was in the paper a couple of weeks ago, wasn’t in just any body’s garden in Flint Hill. That garden belonged to my bride. But, then again, she could make a desert bloom.

And, speaking of my bride, as I am writing this, 30 years ago, almost to the hour, my life partner had just completed 17 hours of labor, and presented me with a bouncing baby boy, and life has never been the same since. But, as Martha would say, that’s a good thing. Now, we await the arrival of a grandchild. And life goes on. And it is good.
