Bull Run’s Beezer earned top marks early in the day for his hunting ability (mostly, judges say, for helping “find” the scent, initially).
Rappahannocks’ Bishop got top marks for his trailing ability, but Elkridge-Harford’s Resolute was best in full cry (scored for voice and speed) and endurance, giving the northern Maryland dub top placing cm day two.
Combined totals from both days found EH up, both as overall hunt winner and for top hound, Resolute.
Bull Run Sam was consistent both days to earn second overall, with Rascal flagging under the hot weather on day two to drop all the way down to sixth place overall.
Bull Run was second overall, with Deep Run third and Rappahannock fourth.
The performance trial closes out a full year of activities surrounding the MFHA’s centennial celebration.
Other events induded field hunter trials for horses, jointmeets around the nation for a sort of foxhunting exchange program, and other hound performance trials.
