“One of the reasons could be that Rappahannock has an awful lot of people working part-time in building trades," he said. “And they don’t show up as unemployed but they do tend to stop paving their health insurance as work slows down - so they show up as uninsured"
McCarthy also said that the county’s demographics include a sizable segment of retired people who have not yet reached Medicare age.
“If they have not chosen to receive some kind of gap coverage, they will also be counted as uninsured," said McC arthy.
