If you have not met the young man whose news stories, especially those concerning political activities, you have been reading in the Rappahannock News, he is Douglas Baumgardner Doug is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Baumgardner of Washington, Va , and Alexandria and he spends his summers in Rappahannock. He leaves today for U-xington where he will he among the 330 freshmen who will enroll in Virginia Military Institute. He will have a week of orientation on cadet life before beginning academic classes He was a 1969 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High Schwil in Alexandria
Mrs. Barbara Gentry earned out the theme, “Our HentageOur Future,"at the National Extension Homemakers’ Council meeting which she attended August 11-14 in Hlackburg. Delegates from Virginia along with those from the other 49 states and Puerto Rico were present for the council meeting and total attendance was nearly 5,000. All Virgnia delegates were requested to wear a colonial costume. They gave tote bags to all other representatives present These bags were made by Virgniu Homemaker Clubs early this year. Mrs Gentry, who is from Flint Hill, was accompanied by Miss Judy Burtner, Home Agent.
Mr. and Mrs. Barry Jolliffe and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Jolliffe entertained jointly with a party Saturday honoring Airman and Mrs. Ronald Dodson and Seaman Dennis Lee Hitt Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Milton Switzer Jr., of Arlington. Miss Ada Compton and Mr. and Mrs. Craig Wilson, Rixeyville.
