Photo from 1962 RCHS Yearbook MEMORIES UNGER: The late Alvin L. Atkins was the first custodian for Rappahannock County High School when its doors first opened September 1960. He took great pride in his work making sure hallways were spotless and shiny.
Melvin’s son, Ray, was put under contract in 1996 and has been employed as a part-time night custodian at Rappahannock elementary school ever since (he is a day employee of Merillat).
Ray has a son, Tucker Ray, who someday may follow in the footsteps of the Atkins’ family and be employed at Rappahannock schools.
