1 used the animals in my photographs as well. The presence of the animal relaxed the people in the portraits, allowed them to transfer the intensity of the subject/camera dynamic to another place. By including animals, I was able to not only gain access to people, but reveal the true subject of the portrait, the person, in a more sincere and natural state," said Kreyling.
Kreyling graduated from the University of Virginia with degrees in Studio Art and English.
Forrest Marquisee contributed a sculptural piece that "... consists of an object and its sound representing one another. In attempting to depict one another, neither can be verified or honest without the other "
Marquisee is also one of the musicians you can enjoy performing outside the gallery. He is studying Music and Environmental Science at the University of Mary Washington.
You may have noticed Arlen Sherwood's work in the Middle Street Gallery this past winter. He graduated from UVA with a degree in printmaking. His work shows playfulness intertwined with thoughtfulness and a variety of processes.
