enrolled at the Food Pantry the first eight days in August, bringing the total enrollment to 130 households. So far this month recipients have made 51 trips to the pantry according to Kathy Eggers, volunteer coordinator for Plant a Row for the Hungry.
Volunteer drivers have started helping shut-ins access pantry food. If you know someone who would benefit from the pantry but has mobility or transportation problems, please call food pantry director Mimi Forbes at 675-1177.
The pantry received veggies grown by the Mountain Laurel Montessori School and blackberries from Mount Vernon Farm.
“If you’ve visited the pantry, you've probably seen volunteer John Mann, from Woodville who logs more hours than anyone except Mimi Forbes,” said Eggers. Mann loves working at the pantry and work he does, carrying food in, organizing shelves, and helping recipients with their boxes of food as they go through the pantry. “The pantry is blessed to have John's help,” said Eggers.
