Consider also the property owner on a private lane who has his/her address clearly marked on a mailbox at the entrance to that private lane, but the entrance to the property a mile down the lane from the mailbox is not marked in any way. It does not help or matter to Sheriffs Office deputies or tire/rescue vehicle drivers if the postal carrier knows which mailbox in which to put the correct mail.
This is a simple matter to property owners: If the fire/rescue and law enforcement personnel cannot find you. we cannot help you when you need our help most. If my wife was in full cardiac arrest; if we had a CO alarm activate in the middle of the night when we’re asleep; if armed robbers were forcing their way into the house, I sure would not want responding emergency units to flounder around trying to find my driveway and waste precious minutes because my property could not be located quickly.
