Lucky winners
Bill Welch, left, president of Flint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Fire Chief Bruce Williams, and his granddaughter, Lexie Williams, congratulate the Rev. and Mrs. James Simmons of Murray, Kentucky who won a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck at the Saturday night drawing at the Flint Hill carnival. Lexie Williams sold the winning ticket. The Simmons had purchased the ticket some weeks ago while visiting friends here. Mrs. Simmons said she had distant roots in Rappahannock. (The second grand prize, a heifer, was won by David Turner of Stanley, Va.)
