Rappahannock County writer Bruce C. Sloane will sign and discuss his new book. Scenic Driving Virginia, at a book-publication party Saturday, Aug. 14 at the Old Sperryville Bookshop, from 5 to 7 p.m. Mr. Sloane, a technical writer and a former editor of the Rappahannock News, has become an expert on the back roads and byways of the Old Dominion, after driving untold hundreds of miles with his wife Joy Sloane to gather material for his book.
Hollyann Jenkins, Washington, was crowned Ms. Warren County Fair on Monday, Aug. 2 Judged on beauty, poise, personality, and overall appearance, she received a perfect score in each category. In addition to modeling and judging pageants, Ms. Jenkins offers consultant services for girls who wish to perfect their pageant routines. In September, she will be competing in an international pageant.
Local Longaberger Sales Associate, Kathy Thornhill, of Round Hill Road in Boston, recently attended The Longaberger Company’s annual National Convention, known as The Bee, held from July 28 through Aug. 7 at the Columbus Convention Center Approximately 15,000 Longaberger enthusiasts from around the United States attended.
