Speakers at last Wednesday’s public meeting on the Proposed Equal Rights Amendment, sponsored by the Rappahannock Ad Hoc Committee on ERA, spent the majority of the program debunking myths that surround the controversial legislation. Patricia Jensen, state ERA Coordinator for the Virginia League of Women Voters, and Jean Marshall Clarke, State Coordinator for the National Organization of Women, emphasized again and again that the amendment will only ensure that equality under the law may not be abridged or denied on the basis of sex.
