Rappahannock’s Sheriffs Department has handled a variety of calls in the past week ranging from school bus vandalism to lost boy scouts.
The windshields of nine school buses parked at the bus shop were broken out .sometime early Sunday morning, resulting in over a thousand dollars in damage. A window at the Rappahannock Clinic was also broken. Investigation of both continues, according to Deputy Martin Orfila.
Deputy R. D. Hawkins was alerted Saturday evening by Bob Shaw of Winchester that four Boy Scouts who had been with him were lost in the Mt. Marshall fire trail and The Peak area. Hawkins responded and coordinated a search party. With the assistance of Trooper C. A. Moore, several Park Rangers and the Rev. Jennings Hobson of Washington, the area was canvassed and the children found by Gene Lyman of Washington and two unidentified hikers.
