Though Andrew P. Miller was the obvious favorite of Rappahannock in Tuesday’s primary election polling 268 votes to Howell’s 231, Henry Evans Howell will represent the Virginia Democrats as their candidate for governor in November’s general election.
Ninety per cent of the state’s precincts reported, Howell having slightly less that 52 per cent of the vote, 231.000, and Miller a little more than 48 per cent, 214.000.
Howell will face Lt. Gov. John Dalton in the November general election.
In the race of Lieutenant Gov., Charles S. Robb polled way ahead of his opponents in Rappahannock’s voting. Robb polled 251 votes to Major Reynold’s 98 and Ira Lechner’s 126.
