With returns incomplete, of the approximate 166,000 votes, Robb had 39 per cent. Richard “Major” Reynolds had 34 per cent, 143,000, and Ira Lechner had 27 per cent, about 113,000 votes.
Robb will face Republican nominee Joe Canada in November.
Rappahannock’s choice for Attorney General was Edward E. Lane who polled 231 votes to John Melnick’s 102, John Schell’s 69, and Shad Solomon’s 43 votes.
Lane won the primary election leading with 37 per cent of 141,000 votes. Shad Solomon had 24 per cent, 93,000 votes, John Melnick, 20 per cent, 76,000 votes and John Schell had 19 per cent . or 74,000 votes.
Lane will oppose Republican Marshall Coleman in the November general election.
