Rush River Cooperative.
Started three years ago with two members, Rush River has grown and the group plans to expand even further. Currently, the Coop has five members and features paintings and block prints by Barbara Bookman; artisan’s wear by Peter and Joyce Kramer; quilts, quilting supplies and original, hand-made clothes by Ginny Beyer; handmade dulcimers and string instrument repairs by Doug Schroeder and natural foods from Bob and Rae Haase.
Recently, Rush River Cooperative members finished renovation work on an old shed so they could expand into a third room on the first floor of the two-story building. Eventually, they plan to finish three upstairs rooms to give them more space.
In addition tq music and Kilpatrick, Saturday’s open house will also offer refreshments with natural food cookies and cider supplied by the Haases. Festivities will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 5 in the afternoon.
“We offer a wide diversity,” said Coop member Barbara Bockman, much more than one usually finds in a rural country store. “Somehow, it works,” she added. 4
