New business topics were the proposal of two classes to be held in 1978 probably on extrication and heavy duty rescue; and a detailed discussion on updating and improving the communications system for the county. A motion was made to invite Rappahannock Sheriff W. A. Buntin to the January meeting at Chester Gap to discuss ways of improving communications among the fire, rescue and sheriffs units, all of which are involved in common causes.
The idea of presenting the county Board of Supervisors with the phone and dispatch bills of each company was discussed.
At the recent pump school held in Warrenton four fire trucks were tested and all passed with excellent ratings. One unit from each Flint Hill and Washington and two from Amissville attended. Washington’s pumper had the fastest draft time of any equipment at the school, according to the report made at the association meeting.
