“It’s hard to tell when to step in,” answered Dick Latham. “You get to a point and everything falls apart.”
Ellen Mustoe agreed that it would be impossible to wait until the final minute before approving companion services for an applicant.
Mrs. Buntin reported on a case in Chester Gap where companion services would definitely have prevented going into a nursing home. “But I wasn’t able to offer that help to them,” she said.
Sometimes, going into a nursing home is “the next step to the undertaker,” commented Carter White.
