Gene Kerven views the training exercises as beneficial beyond teaching young dogs how to detect narcotics that enter illegally into the country. The presence of canine drug searchers in a school “gives kids who haven’t tried drugs a reason not to...Maybe we’re helping there. I don’t know,” said Kerven.

There will be a fundraising Christmas party on Friday, Dec. 16, from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. at the Rappahannock Community Center in Washington. Admission will be $1.00 per person which will go toward supporting the center. An old ham will be given away during the evening.
