The Rappahannock County Fire and Rescue Squad Association offers these safety tips which could help to make your Christmas safe and one to remember joyfully. When hearing of tragedys, most people think, “it will never happen to me,” but it does happen, and we never know where or when it may strike. So, please help to make your home safe by being mindful of fires during the holiday.
1. Be careful when putting up Christmas lights and watch for faulty and bad wiring.
2. Be careful not to overload the electrical outlets when installing decorations for the holidays.
3. Be sure all lights and electrical decorations used outside are made for this specific use, to eliminate danger of shorts or fire in wet or snowy weather.
4. Be careful not to overload extension cords;
