4.SCS Election
The Rappahannock County ASC Committee has tabulated the ballots for the community committee elections which ended December 5, 1977. Farmers elected to the committees for 1978 are:
SOUTH COMMUNITY Chairman, Raymond M. Johnson; Vice Chairman, James H. Falls; Regular Member, A. F. Cannon; 1st Alternate, Earl J. Kilby; 2nd Alternate, Marvin Dodson.
' NORTH COMMUNITY
Chairman, Thomas G. Eastham; Vice Chairman, John A. Tapp; Regular Member, Aubrey North; 1st Alternate, W. Clifford Latham; 2nd Alternate, Dale Welch.
CENTRAL COMMUNITY
Chairman, Thomas B. Massie; Vice Chairman, Louis P. Moore, Jr.; Regular Member, E. J. Welch; 1st Alternate, Henry Hudson; 2nd Alternate, Mike Massie.
Community Committeemen and alternates serve a one year term of office which begins January 1, 1978.
Members of the community committees also serve as delegates to the County Convention to be held on December 20, 1977 at 9:30 a.m. in the county ASCS office. The purpose of the County Convention is to elect committeemen and alternates to fill vacancies on the County Committee, and to determine the Chairman and Vice Chairman for the coming year. The County Convention is open to the public.
Friday, December 16 is the final date for signing up under the 1978 Agricultural Conservation Program (ACP). Applications for practices requiring lime and fertilizer must be accompanied by a current soil sample.
