To the editor:

I was puzzled by your editorial concerning the timing of the Zoning Board of Appeals’ hearing of Rappahannock Ski Corporation’s petition for a special use permit. We asked for as prompt a hearing as possible, and are grateful that it was granted. I would like to make three observations:

1. The reason we need a speedy hearing is that we must finalize an important contract for Alpine Slide components or risk not getting delivery priority we have been tentatively promised. If we are put at the end of the list instead of the beginning, we might have to postpone opening for a full year. This in turn might jeopardize some of our key financial arrangements.
