Four major conferences on-‘ solar energy—the future’s most promising energy source—have been scheduled in Virginia during January, Louis R. Lawson, Jr., Director of Virginia’s Energy Office, said today.
“The U.S. Department of Energy has selected Virginia to assemble information and experts on solar energy technology. During these conferences, a part of the Virginia Energy Office’s “Technology Transfer ’78” program, we will be able to offer that expertise to designers, builders, lenders and educators—the people who will be able to pass the information on to the public,” Lawson said.
The Virginia Energy Office and the Department of Energy will cosponsor the series of one-day meetings. Several Virginia colleges and universities will assist with the conferences in their regions.
The meetings will be held in Richmond, January 17th, Hotel John Marshall; Arlington, January 19th, Key Bridge Mariott-Inn; Norfolk, January 24th, Omni Hotel; and Roanoke, January 26th, Hotel Roanoke.

The conferences are the first phase of an extensive program to make solar energy information available within Virginia. A later series of workshops will offer technical training in the proper installation of solar equipment The program also will assist libraries in maintaining files of the most current solar publications
