In answer to a question as to whether RLEP would take a stand on the land exchange, president Phil Irwin said the directors had not met to consider the issue at all. “What we would find rather helpful,” he added, “would be a show of hands of those present (on the matter).”
The response was unanimous. All present at the meeting raised their hands in support of opposition to the land trade.
Ed Paul Pawley asked if the decision by the Park to go on with the land trade had been made in accordance with established procedure "or is it thought that it was an arbitrary thing arrived at between the private citizens and the Park?”
“My feeling is that the Park has followed whatever are its internal procedures on getting all the approvals as they go along,” Thompson replied. He added, however, that he felt the Park had given out only a "minimum of information so that sometimes people didn't know quite what they were agreeing to.”
Phil Irwin said he would call a meeting of RLEP’s Board of directors within two weeks to decide whether the organization would take a position on the land trade and whether it would sponsor a petition opposing the exchange.
