<t During March 1978, the Chespeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia conducted a poll of the subscribers in the Culpeper exchange con* > cerning the extension of their local area to include the Washington, Virginia ex* change.
The Central Telephone Company of Virginia con* ducted a similar survey of its customers to extend calling from Washington, Virginia to Culpeper.
Bill Brown, manager for CAP Telephone in Culpeper, reports the final results of the March survey have been completed.
17.1 per cent of the subscribers in the Culpeper exchange and 32.6 per cent of the subscribers in the Washington exchange voted yes to extend their local calling between these two areas. The per cent of customers voting yes on the survey falls short of the fifty per cent required in each exchange to expand the local calling area, according to the local manager.
The results of the survey have been certified to the State Corporation Com* mission by both telephone companies.
