-tm« .-JUrppaAanaoeJt Supervisors’ annual secondary road hearing held at last Thursday’s Board meeting was short and quiet. Resident Highway Engineer Don Askew heard few complaints and only one specific request for improvement.
Carson Johnson, former chairman of the county Highway Safety Committee, asked that something be done to correct the hazardous conditions on Route 600 in Old Hollow. The road presents a danger to the loaded school bus that must travel it twice daily, according to Johnson. Clatterbuck also presented a petition for improvements on the same stretch of road.
Askew responded that the Highway Department had a $37,500 project set up for work on Route 600 that was scheduled to begin in the 1978-79 budget year.
Earlier, Askew reported that Rappahannock had been allocated $283,000 for the coming year to cover secondary roads. The appropriation was cut from the $330,000 originally expected due to higher revenues needed to repair the statewide winter damage, according to Askew.
