la observance of the Great American Smokeout Nov. lb. a 24-hour celebration to help smokers give up their cigarettes for at least one day, the American Cancer Society (ACS), Virginia Division will operate a statewide toll-free hotline for the more than 1,770.000 Virginians who smoke.
On Wednesday, Nov. 15 thmigh midnight. Thursday, Noe. 16, smokers can reach for their telephones instead of a cigarette and dial 1-800552-7996 for helpful hints and practical suggestions on how to give up smoking.
Specially trained volunteers will be available for around-the-clock counseling via the Division's Cancer Answer Service in Richmond at the toll-free number.
