Supper
The Forest Grove Baptist Church at Viewtown will serve a Harvest Supper at the old Forest Grove School on Saturday, November 18, from 5 until 9 p.m. for the benefit of the church.
The menu will be old Virginia ham and turkey, gravy and dressing, green beans, sweet corn, beets, sweet potatoes, baked apples, sauerkraut, slaw, pickles, home made breads and pies, tea and coffee, all you can eat and drink.
All home cooked food for $5 for adults and carry-out boxes and $3 for children. Tickets may be purchased from Mrs. Sarah Jenkins, Jenkins Garage, Amissville, phone 937-4692 or at the school Saturday night.
Pick A Safe Color
The color of the car you drive directly affects your chances of survival on the highway, according to a study by Daimler-Benze, a West German vehicle manufacturer.
The Daimler-Benze survey found that green-yellow was the best overall color. Light colored vehicles can be seen two to four times further away than dark ones in foggy weather or under twilight conditions. In dim light, darker colored vehicles appear dark gray or black.
On a scale of relative perceptibility, white rated 99 out of a possible 100 per cent; yellow rated 70 per cent; orange and pastel gray about 47 per cent; pastel blue 43 per cent; medium red 23 per cent; blue eight per cent; black and dark blue about five per cent.
