Kelly says the Commission intends to consult with fire personnel throughout the state to determine their concerns and needs.
“yirginia is rapidly growing and we must take the steps now to see to it that there are no gaps in our Fire protection system,” he said. “Our firefighters are doing an excellent job today and we intend to provide the assistance to see that they have the resources to continue that performance tomorrow.”
Kelly also said the Commission intends to set up a data-collection system to record each reported fire in the state. He said that only a handful of states presently utilize such a system and Virginia could be a leader in the area.
