A ‘plan of action’ to coordinate all fire-related services and fire-prevention programs in Virginia has been unveiled at an organization meeting of the recently appointed Virginia Fire Services Commission.
The Commission, appointed by the Governor, was created by the 1978 General Assembly based on recommendations from the Virginia Advisory Legislative Council.
“Our job is to provide support and coordination services to ensure that any Virginian, in any section of the state, can be assured that he or she has the best possible fire protection," acting Commission Executive Director James C. Kelly said. “The Legislature recognized the need for improved coordination and cooperation of our fire services manpower and planning and that’s what we will be doing.”
