To kick off the celebration of American Education Week, the Rappahannock County Education Association chose Monday, November 13, to honor teachers' aides in the county’s public schools —Mrs. Judy Atkins, Mrs. Joan Bailey, Mrs. Gracie Caliandro, Mrs. Mary Clarke, Mrs. Eleanor Cordle, Mrs. Ruby Dwyer. Miss Liz Eastham, Mrs. Lilo Foster, Mrs. Martha Kidwell and Mrs. Margaret Ann Wayland.
These ladies have earned the respect of all school employees through their dedication, conscientiousness, sincerity and love of children and for the wide variety of tasks that they accomplish during an average school day.
Judy Atkins is an aide for Barbara O'Byrne, Title 1 first grade teacher. Her duties include collecting money for lunch, snacks and ice cream, duplicating teaching materials, putting up bulletin board displays, working on records and inventories, reading stories to children, working with individual students under the teacher’s supervision, scoring tests and supervising games.
