Elementary Expansion Before moving on to capital outlay proposals for the elementary school, Mrs. Massie asked for greater participation in discussions by the rest of the board. “I don't like to appear that I’m pushing things," she said, adding that it was difficult to achieve action without comment from all the board members.
Plans submitted for the elementary school call for six new classrooms and expanded bathroom, office and storage space. Estimates on construction costs and architectural fees total 5386,660. Bloomer noted that all available space at the elementary school is currently being used. He told the board members that state mandates reducing class size and establishing new programs had lowered the building’s capacity.
Principal Graham Spencer interjected that services and programs were hampered by having to hold classes in space originally designed for clinic and storage rooms.
