“It is amazing how much trash had accumulated on Route 642 since the April Scout clean-up last year,” said Scoutmaster Silas Martin, Jr. after a group of Amissville Scouts and adults cleaned up the roadsite Saturday from Amissville to Viewtown.

At last count there were 152 sacks of bottles, tin cans, disposable diapers and other items too numerous to mention, according to a helper, and they had not nearly finished. After taking two dump truck loads to the landfill and collecting the Scouts for the trip home, enroute we discovered that four tin cans had already been tossed out on the road awaiting next year’s clean-up campaign.
