Wakefield Country Day School’s annual student play will be presented Friday and Saturday, April 27 and 28, beginning at 8 p.m. in the school’s auditorium at Huntly.
The Imaginary Invalid by Moliere, this year’s play, promises to be the most elaborate of the dramatic productions which Wakefield has presented in its six year history.
Mrs. Pamela Lynn, producer, director and costume designer, has gained local fame for the great success of her productions. A visiting drama teacher from the Chapin School in New York called last year’s production of Cyrano de Bergerac the best high school performance he had ever seen. Mrs. Lynn gives most of the credit for the high quality of the performances to the students, citing their enthusiasm, hard work and ability to take direction. She points out that plays requiring large casts have been selected each year because so many students are eager to participate.
The Imaginary Invalid, a comedy-ballet, was first performed in 1673 at the court of Louis XIV. Moliere himself played the lead role,
Rothrock Wins
Fishing Award
Sid R. Rothrock, son of Judge and Mrs. John A. Rothrock Jr. of Viewtown, earned a citation recently in the Metropolitan South Florida Fishing Tournament by catching a 19.8 pound barracuda in the junior division. Thirteen year old Sid fished out of Bud ’n Mary’s Marina at Islamorada in the Florida Keys with Captain Cliff Ambrose on the Runnerup. He will also receive a yearbook with his award at the close of the tournament.
