Lapelle agreed that Rappahannock ranked “towards the bottom” in all areas of agricultural production except orchards.
At the close of Capelle’s presentation of the chapter on agriculture, chairman Herbert Barksdale explained to the audience that the planning commission would hold meetings for public comment on the completed plan in each Rappahannock community sometime in the fall. He emphasized, however, that citizens were welcome to come to the regular planning commission meetings as the planners received rough drafts of chapters from Capelle.
Miller, chairman of the comprehensive plan committee, added that anyone with suggestions to offer could telephone him. “I’ll be glad to discuss it with you,” he volunteered.
