Resilient flooring comes in two basic forms. You may buy individual tiles which are cemented in place to serve as a permanent floor. Or you can choose sheet materials, which are usually cemented permanently as well. Occasionally, however, the sheet materials adapt for use as rugs, and these are looselaid, often in apartments and rented homes, to be moved later. Tiles lend themselves to do-it-yourself installation. Selfadhensive varieties are especially easy to use. Some manufacturers have simplified the task so that, although the subfloor still has to be prepared for the adhesive, the adhesive no longer has to be applied to the entire floor, only to the perimeters and seams of the tile.
