According to Capelle, most of the increase shown in total value of county agricultural products sold is due to inflation. Between 1964 and 1974, total value of products sold climbed from $2.2 million to $3.5 million—an increase of 61 per cent.
“That 61 per cent doesn’t even keep up with the rate of inflation (for the same ten year period),” commented Fannon.
Cappelle reported that he planned to include agricultural statistics from the other four counties in the planning district comparison with RappahafttaooJfc^ but hadn’t been able to finish organizing the data in time for presentation at the meeting.
“We're not any competition at all for those four counties (Madison, Fauquier, Culpeper and Orange),’’ said Miller.
