Hawkins
Jesse William Hawkins, 92, of Boston died, Wednesday, September 10, r980, at a nursing home in Arlington. A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the .late William Archibald and Mary Mitchell Hawkins. He was a farmer and a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church at Boston. Funeral services were conducted Friday at the Geest Funeral Home Chapel, Culpeper, by the Rev. William Lancaster, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mamie Weaver Hawkins; a daughter, Mrs. Josephine Duncan of Boston; two sons. Williams L. Hawkins of Annandale and Jesse W. Hawkins of Culpeper; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ertha Hawkins of Boston.
Smoot
Jesse Lee Smoot, 61, of Winchester died Wednesday, September 10, 1980, at Winchester Memorial , Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at Omps Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Thornton Hartley. Burial was in Salem Brethren Church Cemetery.
Mr. Smoot was bom April 11, 1919, in Rappahannock County, son of the late James Henry and Carrie Rutherford Smoot. He was employed as a backhoe operator at Perry Engineering Company and served as a private first class in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He is survived by one son, Franklin Lee Smoot and one daughter, Sharon J. Smoot, both of Stephens City; three sisters, Anna Graig of White Post, Patsy Carpenter of Boyce and Caroline Evins of Winchester, and two brothers, Winfield Smoot and Pete Smoot, both of White Post. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
