According to Mrs. Reeve, the committee recommended that (1) students have the responsibility of meeting with their teachers “at an appropriate time” to get assignments missed during an excused absence, (2) the policy manual’s section on corporal punishment be reviewed with the aim of providing more appropriate puishment. (3) in view of the ban on smoking, tobacco products carried openly by students be confiscated for return at the end of the year and (4) parents, teachers and administrators be reminded of the example they set for students by smoking on school grounds and at school functions.

The board voted unanimously to accept the committee report and set the October meeting for acting on the recommendations.
