McDaniel acknowledged. In 1982-83. the cost of any of the proposals implemented next year will have to be picked up locally. Federal dollars are supplied only to begin or expand special education programs, not to support classes and services on a continuing basis, according to McDaniel. Of the proposals in the sixyear special education plan tor 1981-82. local funds will be required for the special ed coordinator and for additional time for the preschool child development specialist. "Approval of the special ed coordinator is a decision the board will have to make at budget time." said McDaniel. "It’s the same position we've had in the recommended budget for the past two years tat an annual salary of $17,000), he added.
