Of interest to folks back home is the finalization of three years of work on the sewage disposal problems our counties have had for years.
Landowners whose land did not perk were not allowed to build houses. This has been one of the toughest jobs I have had since being in Richmond. After many hours of meetings and frustrations with the Heatlh Department our subcommittee adopted Draft No. 3 dated November 1980.
In addition to these regulations two resolutions were put in the hopper today requiring the Board of Health to allow all types of safe sewage disposal in its new regulations and everything made effective by August 1. 1981.
Another resolution entered today required the Board of Health to be responsible for keeping ^breast of advances in sewage treatment technology, something they have not done in the past.
Finally. I had a pleasant surprise on Wednesday and that was to become the 47th Delegate out of the 100 to be awarded three major Committee assignments. Mr. Speaker appointed me to the Committee on Education in addition to my other appointments.
The vacancy was created when Delegate Michie of Charlottesville became a State Senator. Now my work is really cut out for me to do even more for the good people of Rappahannock. Orange. Madison and Culpeper.
