A bill that would freeze the < size of Shenandoah National i Park ' within its present 1 boundary limits of approximately 194,000 acres has been reintroduced in the 1 97th Congress by Seventh District Congressman J. Kenneth Robinson.
Robinson has maintained for several years that the ultimate park size of 521,000 acres, envisioned by the Congress when the park was authorized in 1926, is no longer practical or realistic, due to permanent settlement and development along the park's current perimeters.
Robinson's bill would have the effect of wiping the outdated, larger boundary authorization from federal law.
