As a last resort, they can contact the Washington Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad whose members have already offered their assistance to the town’s older residents.
For washing clothes, nothing beats an old ringer washer on water conservation. Both wash and rinse water can be saved for recycling in the commode. Those not fortunate enough to have a ringer tucked away in a garage corner should either wash small loads out by hand or use commercial laundramats during the water crisis.
