THE controversy
centering around a
kindergarten for Rappahannock County dominated the January 22, 1976 edition of the Rappahannock News. At the January meeting of the county school board, members discussed the pros and cons of establishing a kindergarten in Rappahannock County.
In the Washington social news, it was reported that Miss Melody Green of Amissville had visited Mrs. Sarah Brown and Mrs. Rugh Clark.
Toney’s Downtown Super Market in Front Royal had a steak sale, advertising round steak for $1.69 lb.; and T-bone steak for $1.99 lb.
George Muth of Woodville was elected chairman of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services Board.

ON January 21, 1971,
The Rappahannock
News reported that a drug education workshop would be held for teachers in Warren and Rappahannock Counties.
The Skyline Ski Area was purchased by Robert M. Gamble, Jr., of Washington and Arlington. He was pictured with one of the machines installed for making snow.
The Rappahannock Arts and Crafts Group met at the home of Mrs. H.R. Terhune near Amissville. The group decided to schedule a program for lamp repair and lamp shade making.
Mr. and Mrs. Alpheus Atkins of Woodville announced the birth of their son, Kenny Benjamin, on January 15.
