Up For Jan.

Travel to Shenandoah National Park is off to a good start for 1981, according to statistics released by the Park Service.

Visits in January of this year total 33,100 compared to 26,600 in 1980, an increase of 24.4 per cent.

Overnight stays are off slightly, however, with 1,280 in January, 1981, compared to the same period last year.

The Big Meadows Weather Station reports a high of SO degrees for the month and a low of minus ten with precipitation measuring just 0.16 inch. Unlike Rappahannock, the park had a white January to begin 1981 with snow measuring 4.06 inches.
