It’s time for parents and friends of education in Rappahannock County to stand up and be counted.
Next week’s special school board meeting is scheduled as a budget input session for the 1981-82 school year. If the long delayed capital outlay program for expansion of the county’s public schools is ever to get off the ground, it should begin with funds included in that budget.
Teachers will be there to present requests they feel will provide the quality education our children deserve. As in the past, they’ll voice unqualified support for a building program that will help achieve that goal.
But teachers aren’t enough. The school board needs to know that it has the support of taxpayers who will bear the cost of providing quality education. If the support isn’t there in the elementary school library at 7:30 on Tuesday, February 17, the school board can’t count on it being there to help them sell a capital outlay package to the supervisors in April.
