The Appropriations Committee had requests of $900 million for the projected $200 million expected excess revenue between now and June 30, 1981.

Right now with funds on hand or projected, education is going to get more( state employees will get an increase and Medicare is going to get a shot in the arm. These things could not be accomplished with a $350 million loss in revenue.

Word coming down from the Appropriations Committee indicates that our schools funding for kindergarten will be on the following basis: Under 30 students, 85 percent funding for half-day and 100 percent funding for over 30 students for half-day. Of course, full day kindergarten will get 100 percent funding.

A bill passed the House today on its way to the Senate which eliminates the tie breaker law. No one remembers who put in the bill that mandated it. If this bill goes all the way and becomes law it will be local option only.
