sheltered employment and placement services for the physically, mentally and emotionally handicapped of the five-county Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District.

F.O.R.E. was formed in 1972 and has been providing services to the handicapped since 1974.

The facilities served 59 handicapped individuals last year, of whom 11 were placed into regular employment within the district.

Board members are responsible for setting the policies and programs of the facilities, for monitoring services and for assisting in fund raising activities.

The board meets approximately nine times per year at one of the facilities. All board members are volunteers.

F.O.R.E. has recently retired the mortgage on 16 acres of land near Brandy Station which was purchased for construction of a new 8.400 square foot facility and is now engaged in raising funding for construction.

Interested citizens may contact F.O.R.E. at 439-3505 for information.
